Harry Potter star Emma Watson has allegedly said that unlike her kiss with co-star Rupert Grint, which has been highly anticipated, the Twilight Saga is ‘selling sex’!

According to W.E.N.N., Emma said in an interview with Empire magazine -

She says, “This kiss between Hermione and Ron is highly anticipated, it’s been building up for eight films now. And Harry Potter is not Twilight, you know; we’re not selling sex.

“So, whenever there is any hint of that, everybody gets terribly excited. In fact, it was horribly awkward; we couldn’t stop laughing.”

Following on from this, “Cinematical”posted the following artlicle -

Oh, The Twilight Saga. It’s the sexiest sex-free series we’ve ever seen. Bella leaves the sun, heads for the rain, and falls in love with a hundred + year-old virgin vampire who could break her with one single touch … or thrust as the case may be. He’s all distracted by his super vampire strength and early twentieth-century morals, which have him convinced that pre-marital sex might ruin Bella’s soul and make her eternally doomed for one act of teenage lust.

Abstinence is the name of the game, though that doesn’t keep the pair from cuddling every night, and occasionally partaking in super-steamy, half-clothed makeout sessions. Yet, as sexless as it is, could Twilight actually be selling sex?

Emma Watson, otherwise known as Hermione Granger from the other super-popular fantasy series Harry Potter, let loose a jab at The Twilight Saga while talking about the upcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. WENN quotes her as saying: “This kiss between Hermione and Ron is highly anticipated, it’s been building up for eight films now. And Harry Potter is not Twilight, you know; we’re not selling sex.”

It’s an interesting thought to consider — that Twilight, in all its abstinence-ridden glory, is not just sexy, but is actually selling sex. It makes sense. Though the actual, literal act does not happen until the couple is married in Breaking Dawn, there is nothing as prevalent in the tale as lust and sexual yearning … except maybe Bella’s obsession with Edward’s perfect looks. Though Stephenie Meyer gets knocked for a lot of things, the woman knows sexual tension, and infuses it into her series whenever she can. Yes, she stresses marriage before sex, but in a world where girls and boys now bite each other out of vampire play, and girls actually wait for their larger than life Edward Cullen, it’s not a jump to imagine fans thinking: “Well, my boyfriend isn’t a dangerous vampire … Let’s get it on!”

If fans are obsessed with a series that lathers on lust over and over again, wouldn’t that be selling sex a lot more than some simple and vague sex scene? What do you think? Can abstinence sell sex on the screen? Is The Twilight Saga teen sex foreplay?

An interview with a vampire

Peter Facinelli had never heard of the “Twilight” books when his agent asked him to audition for a vampire movie.
“I said no. I was thinking it was some B or C slasher, horror kind of picture,” said Facinelli, whose agent quickly sent him a copy of Stephenie Meyer’s popular first novel.
“It wasn’t a schlocky horror movie.” No, indeed.
The first three films in the “Twilight” series have grossed $1.7 billion worldwide and spawned full-blown fandemonium, with “Twi-hards” camping out days in advance for film premiere tickets, decked out head-to-toe in movie merchandise. And Facinelli has been along for the ride as Dr. Carlisle Cullen, the kindly head of a family of “vegetarian” vampires–they feed only on animals, not humans–and the adoptive father of Edward, played by mega-star Rob Pattinson.
Facinelli will greet fans tomorrow at Spotsylvania Towne Centre as part of a fundraiser for the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, which supports pediatric cancer research. Since the first film came out in 2008, Facinelli has done his share of public appearances, many on behalf of charities. This one, founded by parents who lost their 8-year-old daughter to cancer, is a favorite of the actor, who has three young girls of his own.
“These parents took this horrible, devastating thing and made it into something inspiring and positive,” said Facinelli, who has also visited pediatric hospitals. “I have kids. I couldn’t even imagine them having to be in a hospital sick.”
His previous appearances have attracted thousands, and his Twitter feed has nearly 1.7 million followers. Still, Facinelli seems genuinely surprised by the throngs. “I’m always excited when more than five people show up,” he said. “I’m always flattered.”

No, because it gives guys something to aspire to. If they can get a fraction of that, if they can just own the Volvo, they’re headed on the right track.
